As you may know, the jammertest.no webpage was attacked by unknown actors and a malicious javascript was added to alle pages and post. The script opened a fake "are you a human" (aka reCAPTCHA) pop-up with instructions to press a key combination on your keyboard. If you followed the instructions they would have opened up a terminal window on your computer and run an attacker controlled script. The script downloads and installs malicious software on your computer.
If you experienced this on the Jammertest.no page earlier this month and you followed the instructions in the pop-up: Shut down your computer immediately and contact your company IT department.
As for what happened, the attackers used a vulnerability in the Ghost content management system discovered earlier this year. We did not manage to update the server in time before the attackers breached the site.
To make sure that something like this does not happen again we have moved the page to a managed service that makes sure that the server is always updated with the latest software.
On behalf of the Jammertest organisers I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you and extend a thank you to everyone that reported the issue.
Stay safe, even in cyber space.
